In Béarn we are
in the birthplace of Gaston Le Febus, of Jeanne d'Albert mother of the
kings of Navarre who became Henri IV king of France. Always history and
religion have been closely linked. The crossroads of the ways of St James
of Compostella points you to the many priories, chapels, churches, walled
courtyards and castles that you can visit (Lescar, Oloron, Morlaas, Laas,
Navarrenx, Pau ...)

In Salies itself it is
above all, the splendour of 'La Belle Epoque' which has left its marks
- post Napoleonic with the casino, the grand hotels and the pretty villas
which show the proud frontages throughout the town. Furthermore there
is to be sseen the authentic medieval heart of the town with its framed
walls and piling.
